Housing

TIRES participants are eligible to live in the Global Studies House, a living and learning community for students sponsored by the Institute for Global Studies. Students selecting this option live in apartments, shared with three other students of the same gender. Within the apartment, each student has his or her own bedroom. Students share a kitchen, living room, bathrooms and laundry facilities. The rental cost per student for 2000-2001 was $490-527/month. Rates for 2001-2002 have not yet been announced. Students may choose to purchase a meal plan. Many students at the University of Minnesota choose to live "off campus," but you should be aware that rental housing in the Twin Cities is often difficult to find.
