We are collecting increment cores from red pine, white pine, and northern white-cedar to reconstruct past climate in the BWCAW region. We have collected cores from several sites in the vicinity of Seagull Lake and Agnes Lake and so far have developed chronologies from red and white pine that extend to the late 1600s.  Our cedar chronologies currently extend to the middle 1400s.  This work is being supported by a Grant-in-aid of research from the University of Minnesota Graduate School.
